How is it that you have a 2018 Fit that is 3 months old? This is the 10th month of 2019! Do you mean you bought a USED one and it only has 3000 miles on it? Incredible! I don't know what to tell you because that's a 3rd Gen model that I haven't worked on yet.
However, the original post here was for a 2013 which is a 2nd Gen model and there IS access to the latch from inside. I have a 2012 which is identical and there is an access hatch. From 2009 through 2014 (2nd Gen) they're identical. The most common problem of it NOT unlocking (which makes it so you can't open it from the outside) is that the unlocking mechanism hasn't fully moved the lever to the unlock position. I had that problem with my 2009 and just a little "adjustment" to provide enough slack from the cable coming from the outside handle fixed it.
